Opening Day of Baseball was a HUGE success!! The boys had a blast and even though we were there from 9:00am-5:30pm it didn't seem like it was that long!
The parade was nice, 1st time in 4 years we actually had sun and warmer weather. Ashton wanted papaw to walk with him and his team (Mudcats - #4) and I walked with Ev's team (Pittsburg Pirates - #12).
After the parade they had the opening ceremony and the challengers team (special needs children) threw out the 1st pitch of the season! Games were ready to be played.
Ashton did great! He was so excited. In his league they pitch 5 balls and if they child can't hit it then they bring out the T for them to hit off of. They do not keep score and each team goes through the entire line-up before switching sides. They rotate it so that the last kid up to bat always gets to hit a HOMERUN!! So much fun for the kids!!
(So happy he gets to be in the dugout this year)
(Heading up to bat!)
(Go #4 - he is the smallest one on the team)
(LOL, yep that is Ashton with his hat turned backwards - he got told he can't wear it like that)
(coming into home plate)
Ashton's team all did great. There is a good mix of boys and girls and they all had such a great time. I love T-ball, I think it is more fun for the parents to watch, HA!
After Ashton's games we had a little under an hour before Everett's 1st game started. He is playing in the Rookie league this year. We played the Padre's the 1st game and it was both his coaches from last year when he won the championship, they are such great guys and came over to talk to Everett and us. We have met a lot of wonderful people playing for OYO!
(He is all legs!!)
(had a great hit and taking off for 1st base)
(playing catcher - not his favorite position but he does a good job at it)
Everett's coach told me during the parade line up that Everett is doing very well and is easily coachable and much more mature than some of the others on his team. He makes me so PROUD!!
