Success!!

Opening Day of Baseball was a HUGE success!!  The boys had a blast and even though we were there from 9:00am-5:30pm it didn't seem like it was that long!

The parade was nice, 1st time in 4 years we actually had sun and warmer weather.  Ashton wanted papaw to walk with him and his team (Mudcats - #4) and I walked with Ev's team (Pittsburg Pirates - #12).

After the parade they had the opening ceremony and the challengers team (special needs children) threw out the 1st pitch of the season!  Games were ready to be played.

Ashton did great!  He was so excited.  In his league they pitch 5 balls and if they child can't hit it then they bring out the T for them to hit off of.  They do not keep score and each team goes through the entire line-up before switching sides.  They rotate it so that the last kid up to bat always gets to hit a HOMERUN!!  So much fun for the kids!!

(So happy he gets to be in the dugout this year)

(Heading up to bat!)

(Go #4 - he is the smallest one on the team)

(LOL, yep that is Ashton with his hat turned backwards - he got told he can't wear it like that)

(coming into home plate)

Ashton's team all did great.  There is a good mix of boys and girls and they all had such a great time.  I love T-ball, I think it is more fun for the parents to watch, HA!

After Ashton's games we had a little under an hour before Everett's 1st game started.  He is playing in the Rookie league this year.  We played the Padre's the 1st game and it was both his coaches from last year when he won the championship, they are such great guys and came over to talk to Everett and us.  We have met a lot of wonderful people playing for OYO!

(He is all legs!!)

(had a great hit and taking off for 1st base)

(playing catcher - not his favorite position but he does a good job at it)

Everett's coach told me during the parade line up that Everett is doing very well and is easily coachable and much more mature than some of the others on his team.  He makes me so PROUD!!

Almost the weekend!!

Last night I took Everett to meet with my boot camp trainer for an assessment on him since his pediatrician always says his BMI is to high he falls in the overweight/obese category.  Each year we are told the same thing........keep a food and exercise journal and come back in for 3 month weight checks.  So, I went to Kara and said "could you please put him on the scale that I used to calculate how much bone density, muscle (pounds and percent) and fat (pounds and percent) he has so I can tell the doctor when we go since she only calculates it from his height and weight.

Everett did great!  He did more sit-ups than I could do and did awesome on his push-ups.  Ashton even laid down and threw out 4 push-ups like a pro!  Kara was very impressed at how much strength Everett had and she said by looking at him he is very lean and solid.

She then had him go to the chin up bar hanging from the ceiling in her gym.  Although he was not able to pull himself all the way up he did a great job pulling up as far as he could and holding there.....again he beat me!!!

So last it was time to take his measurements on the scale.  He weights 86.4 pounds, is 54.5 inches tall and 8 years old.  She said most 8 year olds can't do half of what he just did!  He has 11% body fat and only 10 pounds of the 86.4 is fat.  She said that with the muscle he has he will never fall in the "normal" range for the BMI scale she is comparing him too because he is so much stronger than most his age.  She said (like we all already know) he is perfect and she wouldn't change anything!  She said he already makes healthy food choices, and to just keep an eye on the portion sizes.  She told him to be a kid and have fun with life!  That swimming is the best exercise for him to do to make him strong, that baseball wouldn't do anything to get him fit but if you like it, have fun with it!  Also told him (big winner points with this one) to play video games - boxing, dancing, outdoor adventure.....his response YES!

She said to let the doctor know when we go in that those are his numbers so quit putting him in that category, you can't compare apples to oranges!!

The boys are both getting ready for the big day tomorrow.......OPENING DAY OF BASEBALL!!!
Need to be at the parade line up by 9:20am and the parade starts at 9:45am.  Ashton's game will start from 11:00-1:00pm, Everett's game is 1:30-3:30pm and 3:45-5:45pm. YEP!  you just read that right.....almost 9 hours at the ball fields without a break.  I think I will take a couch, grill, tv, and a little pick me up in my cooler for my sprite (wink wink....)  IT'S GONNA BE A LOOOONNNNNGGGG DAY!

The Sickness..........

..........took over Ashton for a while.  My poor little chick still had not been feeling well or eating, and lets face it....we all know how much he LOVES to eat, so with him not really eating a whole lot since Saturday we knew something was wrong.  Monday he woke up and said he was tired and then later on that his mouth hurt and then here came the fever.

I took him into the doctor yesterday and ....... Strep Throat!  He is now on antibiotics and fever free as of yesterday afternoon.  He is back to eating up a storm and his crazy self.....makes me so happy.

This was his lunch choice - Strawberries, Blueberries, and Noodles.  He ate it all!!

I hate it when my babies are not feeling well.

Happy Birthday to ME!!!

Woke up this morning with a migraine headache.......UGH!!!!!  Not the birthday present I was hoping for.  I think it may have been from the chocolate cake last night.  I use to get migraines terribly when I was younger from chocolate BUT the damn cake was soooooooo good I had to have another piece tonight :)  Hopefully no headache when I wake up tomorrow!

My poor Ashton is sick.  He is runny a fever and says his throat hurts so off to the doctor for us in the morning.  Probably gonna tell us it is Strep.

(He fell asleep at the dinner table while I was loading the dishwasher.  He didn't eat again..........) My poor baby!!

Everett and Lee are at baseball practice tonight.  The weather is finally nice and pretty but more storms are due in for tomorrow.

Gonna keep it short tonight, gotta go snuggle with my little guy and get him feeling better!

Weekend Update

Friday evening Everett's school had "Movie Night" and so did Ashton's school (1st time ever).  Ashton wanted to go see the movie that was playing at Everett's school instead of his school so I volunteered to help so Ashton could go too!  Normally Everett goes by himself, it is $5 for a drop off event and all the money goest directly back into the school.  So, that means.........NO selling of cookies, wrapping paper and all that other stuff that no one really wants to buy!!

(Ashton is on the left in the red shirt and white pants with legs up in the air and Ev is in the green and black on the right)

The boys had fun and Ashton did a great job laying still and watching Wreck-It-Ralph with all the older kids.

We came home and they both had to go straight to bed to be rested up for Saturday's Opening Day Baseball Parade and games.  Around 10:30pm I recieved an email that the festivities were being cancelled because the fields were still not in great condition due to the rain from Thursday and we were to have a freeze warning overnight and it would just be to cold to have the kiddos out in that all day, WOO HOO......because it was to cold for me to be out in that all day too!  It has all been rescheduled for next weekend!

So.....I took everyone to breakfast at the pancake house and believe it or not Ashton ate nothing.......we were worried!  Then we all went to Costco.  When we got home Lee and Everett went and mowed some clients yards and trimmed shrubs.  Ashton and I went and picked up my sister and we went paint shopping for the babies room (due in August)!

On our way to pick her up I had called and spoke to mom, she was trying to find a cute little dress for their Italy trip (leaving May 4th) and was not having luck, so Rae and I decided to go shopping for her!  She always picks stuff up for us so it was our turn to get her something cute.  We went to T.J. Maxx and found the most adorable Italy inspired dress but figured even with the small size it was, it would probably still be to big for mom.  We did however, end up getting her 3 dresses and a skirt.  When they come down next weekend for baseball she has to try everything on and model for us :)

We went to lunch at Paradise Bakery and again.......Ashton did not eat.......????  After we dropped Rae off at home we pulled up to our house and the neighbors were out and about and there were 7 boys and 2 girls out in the yard playing (and all getting along) so we hung out with LeeAnn and her family that had been over to help build her shelves in the garage for storage.  We stayed for dinner (Ashton still didn't eat) and drinks then called it an early night.

We woke up this morning and Ashton ATE A TON!!  The boys and I went to Sunday School (I am still teaching the 2nd grade class, they make their 1st Communion this weekend - so proud of them!) and church (we got a new preist and I am really starting to like him, great personality and sense of humor).  The boys enjoy going to the 10:30am Mass because they get to leave and go to the Children's Literagy for about 25 minutes fo the Mass (makes it easier for chick so he is not sitting so long).

When we got home from church Lee was out front working on the yard and lawn mowers (neighbors).  Everett has asked to mow this year so we let him mow the front yard with us there to help him out and make sure he stays safe.  He does a great job!  Chick wanted to play some T-ball so I pitched him some balls and he hit off the T.  He does really good for being so little!!  Then we all went in and took a nap (not Lee).

(Ashton is OUT.....)

Today has been a great day, very sunny but still really cold.  We are celebrating my birthday today since we have baseball practice tomorrow evening.  The are getting me a FitBit Flex (it tracks my calories burned, steps walked, hours of sleep, quality of sleep.....) they have not been released yet but once they are I will get an email notification and can place my order, now what color to pick......black, slate, teal, or coral........good thing they are interchangable, I may need to get a couple!  Everett wants to buy me a book at his school book fair tomorrow with his own money he made helping Lee mow yesterday (so sweet).  We are having grilled chicken, grilled veggies (red & green peppers, mushrooms, onions, carrots, sugar snap peas, brocolli, and cauliflower), and baked potato, fresh strawberries and blueberris!  Lee went and got me a GLUTEN FREE chocolate cake from the Geist Bakery!  YUMMY!!!!!

......Crazy Ass Weather

Indiana.....that is about all you have to say and people know the weather here is ridiculous.  The current temperature is 76 degrees and sunny, Woo Hoo!!!  All sounds great until we are due to get severe thunderstorms and tornados with winds in excess of 80 miles per hour.....stresses me out!  We are actually being classified as PDS Tornado Watch (particularly dangerous system) and Triple Threat (tornado, hail, flood, severly high winds....) NASTY!  What time is this to arrive???? oh it is all day long.....UGH!

I have never in my entire life had so much anxiety over a weather forecast, I am not exactly sure why I am today over this one but all I know is I WANT EVERETT AND ASHTON HOME FROM SCHOOL NOW AND IN THE BASEMENT.

We are under these alerts until at least 5pm and then another storm front is to come in tonight.

Did I mention it is 76 degrees out and by Saturday it is a high in the low 50's....just in time for Saturday's Opening Day Baseball Parade and Games at 9:00am (can you say brrrrrrr......) STUPID INDIANA WEATHER!

Will keep you posted on the weather situation here

Wrapping up "What Did We Miss Wednesday"

The boys had swim practice tonight!  They LOVE it!!!

Ashton always flirts with all the female instructors and life gaurds, we are gonna be in trouble!

Everett was evaluated by the swim team coach tonight and she said as soon as he finishes up with baseball they want him on the swim team!

Ashton is gettnig better with each practice.  He can swim the entire length of the pool by backstroke and is working on being able to turn and breathe on his own when swimming free-style (which he does great at too)!

"What Did We Miss Wednesday"

Well, today at Everett's school is miss match and crazy hair day.  He chose to wear and shirt, tie, 2 different socks, and 2 different shoes but of course would NOT mess up his hair (he HATES it sticking up)!  Yesterday was crazy sock day and Monday was hat day.  They are having celebrations this week because tomorrow is the schools biggest fundraiser, their Walk-A-Thon!  Each class has to walk a certain amount of steps.  Tomorrow is spirit day and he will be wearing his Walk-A-Thon t-shirt and Friday is twin day, dress like your friend.

Ashton, of course, saw the camera out and wanted his picture taken too!  He wore his Spiderman hat to school today (he can't wear it at school) but wanted to keep it in his cubby so he could wear it back home.

Everett passed his IREAD test, YIPPEE!!!!!  Now he is able to go on to the 4th grade.  IREAD is a mandatory test that all 3rd graders have to take and pass in order to go on to the next grade.  He has one more round of ISTEP coming up the last week/first week in April/May......fingers crossed!

Stay tuned for more to come later tonight.......it is swim lessons!

Thanks To The Rain.......

We got to spend some much needed family time together!  Boot camp was cancelled because it is a monsoon outside with thunder and lightening, so......we went to Gramboli's Pizza and had a nice time.  It was Spirit Night for Ev's school and 15% of the bill goes back to his school!  Ev saw a friend from class and got to go to the game room with him and saw one of his teachers too.  Ashton of course ate 2 bites and was "full" but as soon as we walked into the door at the house, guess who was hungry????

Crazy.......Maybe

So today is Tueday and that is the ONLY day this week that the boys do not have some scheduled activity in the evening!  Hooray, right?  I plan on doing what every other person would do on their one night off for the week.........YEP, I am going to Boot Camp, eek!

I have a group of girls I am going with and thanks to Kara Dowd www.certifiedptfitness.com we are going to kick some butt!  As Ashton (Chick) says I have a giant booty so it is time to do something about it!

If I do not post anything tomorrow, please feel free to call Lee and make sure I am alive and not in the hospital!

Never Judge A Book By Its Cover

Hello everyone!

I decided to start a blog so that everyone can keep up with the boys and how they are doing, what they are doing, and what they probably shouldn't be doing.  I thought maybe this would be easier on everyone and you could stop by and take a look on your time (and lets face it, I went over on my plan for sending pictures to everyone on my phone).

I am excited to share with everyone our daily lives so you feel like you are here with us!  I am not sure how this may end up going, but lets take a chance and have some fun with.  On your marks, get set, GO.........here is our family, our life, our STORY, ENJOY!

(Check back every Wednesday for "What Did We Miss Wednesday's")
