Summer Solstice 2013

It is officially summer!  Boys are having a great time already and I feel like we are spending lots of quality time together even though we are busy as can be!!!!

Everett and Ashton finished up baseball spring season last week!  Ashton recieved a trophy and was super excited!!  Everett's team did great this year but unfortunately were knocked out of the tournament.  It was a tough loss becasue we all new the boys could play better than what they had that night, but the boys were pleased with making it that far!  They each recieved a medal.

(Ashton is batting and Everett is catching)

One of the coaches told Everett "you are still one of my favorite players out here".  That melts my heart to hear that :) Everett responded with "if I see you around next season, I might just buy you a hotdog"...LOL They have a long standing joke about hotdogs and how many Everett eats in a season (but I think Ashton may break his record).

Everett is turning 9 on Sunday.......I can't believe it!  I am so proud at how much he has accomplished so far and look forward to the many more accomplishments he will make!!!  He is having 2 friends from school come over and spend the night.  They are having a pool party at Scott & Tammy's house (thanks guys!) and ordering pizza then coming home for cake and then it is party time in the basement with movies.  Tomorrow morning is Tim's Bakery donuts for breakfast then UNLIMITED GAMES OF LAZER TAG!!!!!

After the boys leave we head up to Remington for Aunt Danah's Baby Shower!!!! Aunt Julie is hosting it at her house and the theme is "What will it Bee" yellow, black, grey, and white colors.  Baby  will be here in August!!!

(Ashton can't wait for the baby to "come out")!!!!

Then turn around and come back for a lake party in the evening....didn't I say we were busy busy busy..!!!!

Everett made swim team and starts Monday!  He is so excited but also nervous......he doesn't think he is good as the others but the coach came over and met him and watched him swim and said he is more than ready!!!  Here we go......swim practice 3-4 nights a week for 90 minutes and meets on Saturday's.  I am officially a "soccer mom" except it is with baseball and swimming LOL!  Everett has NO interest in soccer after his 1st attempt and all the kids on his team were deaf......I think I signed him up for the deaf team somehow, he was 4 years old and pissed that the kids wouldn't talk to him HA!

School is out!!!!

Boys are done with school for the year and they are so excited!!!!  Everett finished with all A's again and his STAR reading level is over 700 and should be around 500 for average and his STAR math level is over 550 and should be around 350 for average......such a smart boy!!  He has passed his IREAD state test and is able to go into the 4th grade!  ISTEP results won't be in until July.......but I am sure he did great!

Ashton's last day had a big party and they had a color run for the kids!  The kids all wore white shirts and they had "color bombs" made from corn starch and tempura paint thrown at them.  He had a blast :)

We went to Honey and Papaw's to celebrate Grandma Dorothy's 80th birthday party!  The boys had so much fun with their cousins and were tearing up the dance floor.

Nana and Big Pap came into town on Wednesday for Uncle Marvin's wedding!!!!  He got married!!!!!

We took the boys downtown to "the big city" and met Nana and Big Pap at the Oceanaire for dinner.  1st time eating there and it was delicious!

(the boys at Monument Circle downton Indianapolis)

Friday was the BIG WEDDING DAY!  Lee was an usher and had to get a black suit......modeling for us!

(Lookin good Lee, Lookin good!!)

Nana wanted some picutres of the boys while everyone was all dress up!  Wait until you see my handsome men!!

Such pretty boys!! Love them to pieces!!!!

Saturday we talked Nana and Big Pap into staying another day and going out to dinner with Jeff and Deb Obermeyer (Lee's brother and wife).  We went to the Skyline Club downtown Indy, it was amazing!!  Such great food and nice atmosphere.  Great company and good times!

(the view from out dinner spot, 36th floor of the One America Building - same building we do the Fight For Air Climb in)

(Walking downtown from dinner with Jeff, Nana, Deb, Big Pap, and Lee)

Sunday was a day of rest......after all our other stuff got done.  These 2 were worn out!!!

Can you say BUSY........Goodness we got a lot going on

So much has happened since I last put out a post and clearly we have been busy so that is why it has been such a long time in between posts!

Where to start.....Everett got braces!!!  He is doing wonderful with them.  I am so proud of him!  He sure does seem quite grown up now :(

(The last time he will ever look this way, makes me sad)

(Bring on the new smile)

We took the boys 4 wheeling and dirt bike riding last weekend over Mother's Day weekend.  As always we had a blast!!  and.......as always we made 1 lap around and Ashton was ready for lunch!  We managed to hold him off for a few more laps around.

Ashton didn't want to ride his dirt bike, he got scared.  We took friends with us that have them too and their 6 year old flipped his bike as soon as he got on it and spent the day at urgent care so Ashton was completely content with just doubling up and riding the 4 wheeler with Lee and I.

Everett does AMAZING on his dirt bike!  He is getting really good and very smart about riding.  I took my new (to me) 10 year old dirt bike out for the 1st time too and have to say, I am quite proud of myself!  I have NEVER riden a bike like that and had to manually shift gears.  I did great!  Now, I did lay the damn thing down 4 times and luckily never got hurt!  Just a few thorns in my hand when i landed in the bush and lots of F-bombs dropped when I couldn't kick it started again.  Talk about a work out!

(Boys on their lunch break, they are so cute in their riding gear)

Brace yourself for what is next.........

This kids cracks my shit up!!!!  He had just gotten out of the shower and went outside in the garage, sitting in his chair, legs crossed like a girl, eating an apple, and wanted to watch a movie......all while in his underwear!!!

That's not enough........here is more!

He couldn't get his shirt on this morning and was throwing a fit....anyone know why it wouldn't go on right???  I laughed so hard and then got him to finally calm down so i snuck a picture.....or 2

Tonight Everett has a baseball game, Ashton has one tomorrow, and then Everett has one again on Thursday.....Baseball, baseball, baseball!!!!  And I have had 3 photo shoots in the past 2 weeks and another in 2 weeks!

and LEE has a BDAY tomorrow....the old man is turning 35!!

UMMMMM.......Bootcamp........?????

I LOVED IT!!!!!  I had so much fun!!!

On a not so great note, Everett's team lost thier game.  The boys never play great on a weeknight, they are to tired from a full day of school (not to mention ISTEP) and it showed last night.  They will do better next time.

Ashton's game is tonight!

So much time, So little to do.....Strike that, reverse it (Willie Wonka)

WOW!  Where do I start to catch everyone up????

Saturday's ball games were AMAZING!!  Cold and windy (but that is nothing new).  Ashton had team pictures at 8:00am.  He was in the first row kneeling and of course playing with his penis!  I had to holler out to him to "quit touching, leave it alone!"
He had is game 1st at 9:00am.  Again, T-ball is T-ball and it is hilarious!  Chick does a great job though.  Hit each time off the coaches pitch, no T needed for this guy!

Everett had a double header again, 11:00am & 1:30pm.  He was playing 1st base in his first game and caught a fly foul ball, it totally amazed him and I was so proud I think I felt a few tears arising!!  Yep, I am the emotional mom.  He was beaming ear to ear.  The coaches really like him!  And his hitting.....Watch out!  90% of the balls he hit went foul and clear over to the field behind us!  I told Ashton maybe we should be playing over there!  But.....once he was able to straighten it out, Good Lord that kid can hit!  Doubles and Triples!!!  Probably could have made one a homerun but the 3rd base coach stopped him.  (Lee had to leave after his 1st game to go finish spreading mulch at a neighbors house)

When we got home Ev had a friend call and ask him to go out to dinner and the movies with his family.  They went and saw Iron Man 3.  Lee and I took chick out for pizza (his choice) and we get there and he doesn't want pizza!  Just like last week he fell asleep at the table.  Baseball is so tiring for him!

Sunday morning we all went to "church", they were having a breakfast so Lee came with us and then at 9:50am, Ashton's class was having his prayer service.  I told Lee to be in the church by 9:45am because it starts at 9:50am.  Guess who didn't listen and missed the prayer service????  He said he was watching the class room doors and didn't see anyone leave (5 classes left).  Good thing I video taped it!!  (Once I figure out how to upload it, I will put it on here)!

After Sunday school we went for a drive and guess who got a dirt bike!!!!  ME!!!!!!!!!  Lee had been talking to a friend of ours (the ones we go riding with) and he had a friend selling one.  Looks brand new and purrs like a kitten!

Yesterday I started a 30 day challenge with 50+ people through an online workout/motivational group!  LOVING IT so far.  Have already made new "friends".  I had to make a video and post it as to why I am 100% committed to this 30 day challenge.......my answer was "I'm tired of alwasy starting over, I want to start it and finish it".  Then I had to take before pictures (you could either post them or didn't have too).....ummm gross, I chose NOT to post mine....didn't want to blind my new friends.  Tonight is my 1st boot camp night, the other 2 were cancelled because of the weather and last week I just really sucked and choose to sit in the neighbors front yard and have a few drinks instead of going.  My friend ratted me out and now I have 10 burpees waiting for me when I get there, UGH!!

Boys are back to swimming on Monday nights and let me tell you, we got some swimmers in this family!!  I am so excited, Everett looks amazing and Ashton is doing awesome.....when he isn't flirting!

Everett has a baseball game tonight and Ashton's game is tomorrow night.  Lee mows on Wednesday and Thursday nights and is keeping quite busy.

I think we are all caught up!

ALLERGIES.....

Stupid tree pollen is tearin' me up!  I'm a hot mess!!

Not much to report this week.  Boys are doing great!  Everett is on his 2nd round of ISTEP and school is over on May 28th!

Lee is crazy busy again with mowing but I think he enjoys it!  Everett has been helping out too.  He likes to blow the grass off the sidewalks and driveway while Lee weedeats.

Another long day at the ball fields coming up on Saturday.  Pictures at 8:00am, game from 9:00-11:00, 11:00-1:00, and 1:30-3:30.

Success!!

Opening Day of Baseball was a HUGE success!!  The boys had a blast and even though we were there from 9:00am-5:30pm it didn't seem like it was that long!

The parade was nice, 1st time in 4 years we actually had sun and warmer weather.  Ashton wanted papaw to walk with him and his team (Mudcats - #4) and I walked with Ev's team (Pittsburg Pirates - #12).

After the parade they had the opening ceremony and the challengers team (special needs children) threw out the 1st pitch of the season!  Games were ready to be played.

Ashton did great!  He was so excited.  In his league they pitch 5 balls and if they child can't hit it then they bring out the T for them to hit off of.  They do not keep score and each team goes through the entire line-up before switching sides.  They rotate it so that the last kid up to bat always gets to hit a HOMERUN!!  So much fun for the kids!!

(So happy he gets to be in the dugout this year)

(Heading up to bat!)

(Go #4 - he is the smallest one on the team)

(LOL, yep that is Ashton with his hat turned backwards - he got told he can't wear it like that)

(coming into home plate)

Ashton's team all did great.  There is a good mix of boys and girls and they all had such a great time.  I love T-ball, I think it is more fun for the parents to watch, HA!

After Ashton's games we had a little under an hour before Everett's 1st game started.  He is playing in the Rookie league this year.  We played the Padre's the 1st game and it was both his coaches from last year when he won the championship, they are such great guys and came over to talk to Everett and us.  We have met a lot of wonderful people playing for OYO!

(He is all legs!!)

(had a great hit and taking off for 1st base)

(playing catcher - not his favorite position but he does a good job at it)

Everett's coach told me during the parade line up that Everett is doing very well and is easily coachable and much more mature than some of the others on his team.  He makes me so PROUD!!

Almost the weekend!!

Last night I took Everett to meet with my boot camp trainer for an assessment on him since his pediatrician always says his BMI is to high he falls in the overweight/obese category.  Each year we are told the same thing........keep a food and exercise journal and come back in for 3 month weight checks.  So, I went to Kara and said "could you please put him on the scale that I used to calculate how much bone density, muscle (pounds and percent) and fat (pounds and percent) he has so I can tell the doctor when we go since she only calculates it from his height and weight.

Everett did great!  He did more sit-ups than I could do and did awesome on his push-ups.  Ashton even laid down and threw out 4 push-ups like a pro!  Kara was very impressed at how much strength Everett had and she said by looking at him he is very lean and solid.

She then had him go to the chin up bar hanging from the ceiling in her gym.  Although he was not able to pull himself all the way up he did a great job pulling up as far as he could and holding there.....again he beat me!!!

So last it was time to take his measurements on the scale.  He weights 86.4 pounds, is 54.5 inches tall and 8 years old.  She said most 8 year olds can't do half of what he just did!  He has 11% body fat and only 10 pounds of the 86.4 is fat.  She said that with the muscle he has he will never fall in the "normal" range for the BMI scale she is comparing him too because he is so much stronger than most his age.  She said (like we all already know) he is perfect and she wouldn't change anything!  She said he already makes healthy food choices, and to just keep an eye on the portion sizes.  She told him to be a kid and have fun with life!  That swimming is the best exercise for him to do to make him strong, that baseball wouldn't do anything to get him fit but if you like it, have fun with it!  Also told him (big winner points with this one) to play video games - boxing, dancing, outdoor adventure.....his response YES!

She said to let the doctor know when we go in that those are his numbers so quit putting him in that category, you can't compare apples to oranges!!

The boys are both getting ready for the big day tomorrow.......OPENING DAY OF BASEBALL!!!
Need to be at the parade line up by 9:20am and the parade starts at 9:45am.  Ashton's game will start from 11:00-1:00pm, Everett's game is 1:30-3:30pm and 3:45-5:45pm. YEP!  you just read that right.....almost 9 hours at the ball fields without a break.  I think I will take a couch, grill, tv, and a little pick me up in my cooler for my sprite (wink wink....)  IT'S GONNA BE A LOOOONNNNNGGGG DAY!

The Sickness..........

..........took over Ashton for a while.  My poor little chick still had not been feeling well or eating, and lets face it....we all know how much he LOVES to eat, so with him not really eating a whole lot since Saturday we knew something was wrong.  Monday he woke up and said he was tired and then later on that his mouth hurt and then here came the fever.

I took him into the doctor yesterday and ....... Strep Throat!  He is now on antibiotics and fever free as of yesterday afternoon.  He is back to eating up a storm and his crazy self.....makes me so happy.

This was his lunch choice - Strawberries, Blueberries, and Noodles.  He ate it all!!

I hate it when my babies are not feeling well.

Happy Birthday to ME!!!

Woke up this morning with a migraine headache.......UGH!!!!!  Not the birthday present I was hoping for.  I think it may have been from the chocolate cake last night.  I use to get migraines terribly when I was younger from chocolate BUT the damn cake was soooooooo good I had to have another piece tonight :)  Hopefully no headache when I wake up tomorrow!

My poor Ashton is sick.  He is runny a fever and says his throat hurts so off to the doctor for us in the morning.  Probably gonna tell us it is Strep.

(He fell asleep at the dinner table while I was loading the dishwasher.  He didn't eat again..........) My poor baby!!

Everett and Lee are at baseball practice tonight.  The weather is finally nice and pretty but more storms are due in for tomorrow.

Gonna keep it short tonight, gotta go snuggle with my little guy and get him feeling better!

Weekend Update

Friday evening Everett's school had "Movie Night" and so did Ashton's school (1st time ever).  Ashton wanted to go see the movie that was playing at Everett's school instead of his school so I volunteered to help so Ashton could go too!  Normally Everett goes by himself, it is $5 for a drop off event and all the money goest directly back into the school.  So, that means.........NO selling of cookies, wrapping paper and all that other stuff that no one really wants to buy!!

(Ashton is on the left in the red shirt and white pants with legs up in the air and Ev is in the green and black on the right)

The boys had fun and Ashton did a great job laying still and watching Wreck-It-Ralph with all the older kids.

We came home and they both had to go straight to bed to be rested up for Saturday's Opening Day Baseball Parade and games.  Around 10:30pm I recieved an email that the festivities were being cancelled because the fields were still not in great condition due to the rain from Thursday and we were to have a freeze warning overnight and it would just be to cold to have the kiddos out in that all day, WOO HOO......because it was to cold for me to be out in that all day too!  It has all been rescheduled for next weekend!

So.....I took everyone to breakfast at the pancake house and believe it or not Ashton ate nothing.......we were worried!  Then we all went to Costco.  When we got home Lee and Everett went and mowed some clients yards and trimmed shrubs.  Ashton and I went and picked up my sister and we went paint shopping for the babies room (due in August)!

On our way to pick her up I had called and spoke to mom, she was trying to find a cute little dress for their Italy trip (leaving May 4th) and was not having luck, so Rae and I decided to go shopping for her!  She always picks stuff up for us so it was our turn to get her something cute.  We went to T.J. Maxx and found the most adorable Italy inspired dress but figured even with the small size it was, it would probably still be to big for mom.  We did however, end up getting her 3 dresses and a skirt.  When they come down next weekend for baseball she has to try everything on and model for us :)

We went to lunch at Paradise Bakery and again.......Ashton did not eat.......????  After we dropped Rae off at home we pulled up to our house and the neighbors were out and about and there were 7 boys and 2 girls out in the yard playing (and all getting along) so we hung out with LeeAnn and her family that had been over to help build her shelves in the garage for storage.  We stayed for dinner (Ashton still didn't eat) and drinks then called it an early night.

We woke up this morning and Ashton ATE A TON!!  The boys and I went to Sunday School (I am still teaching the 2nd grade class, they make their 1st Communion this weekend - so proud of them!) and church (we got a new preist and I am really starting to like him, great personality and sense of humor).  The boys enjoy going to the 10:30am Mass because they get to leave and go to the Children's Literagy for about 25 minutes fo the Mass (makes it easier for chick so he is not sitting so long).

When we got home from church Lee was out front working on the yard and lawn mowers (neighbors).  Everett has asked to mow this year so we let him mow the front yard with us there to help him out and make sure he stays safe.  He does a great job!  Chick wanted to play some T-ball so I pitched him some balls and he hit off the T.  He does really good for being so little!!  Then we all went in and took a nap (not Lee).

(Ashton is OUT.....)

Today has been a great day, very sunny but still really cold.  We are celebrating my birthday today since we have baseball practice tomorrow evening.  The are getting me a FitBit Flex (it tracks my calories burned, steps walked, hours of sleep, quality of sleep.....) they have not been released yet but once they are I will get an email notification and can place my order, now what color to pick......black, slate, teal, or coral........good thing they are interchangable, I may need to get a couple!  Everett wants to buy me a book at his school book fair tomorrow with his own money he made helping Lee mow yesterday (so sweet).  We are having grilled chicken, grilled veggies (red & green peppers, mushrooms, onions, carrots, sugar snap peas, brocolli, and cauliflower), and baked potato, fresh strawberries and blueberris!  Lee went and got me a GLUTEN FREE chocolate cake from the Geist Bakery!  YUMMY!!!!!

......Crazy Ass Weather

Indiana.....that is about all you have to say and people know the weather here is ridiculous.  The current temperature is 76 degrees and sunny, Woo Hoo!!!  All sounds great until we are due to get severe thunderstorms and tornados with winds in excess of 80 miles per hour.....stresses me out!  We are actually being classified as PDS Tornado Watch (particularly dangerous system) and Triple Threat (tornado, hail, flood, severly high winds....) NASTY!  What time is this to arrive???? oh it is all day long.....UGH!

I have never in my entire life had so much anxiety over a weather forecast, I am not exactly sure why I am today over this one but all I know is I WANT EVERETT AND ASHTON HOME FROM SCHOOL NOW AND IN THE BASEMENT.

We are under these alerts until at least 5pm and then another storm front is to come in tonight.

Did I mention it is 76 degrees out and by Saturday it is a high in the low 50's....just in time for Saturday's Opening Day Baseball Parade and Games at 9:00am (can you say brrrrrrr......) STUPID INDIANA WEATHER!

Will keep you posted on the weather situation here

Wrapping up "What Did We Miss Wednesday"

The boys had swim practice tonight!  They LOVE it!!!

Ashton always flirts with all the female instructors and life gaurds, we are gonna be in trouble!

Everett was evaluated by the swim team coach tonight and she said as soon as he finishes up with baseball they want him on the swim team!

Ashton is gettnig better with each practice.  He can swim the entire length of the pool by backstroke and is working on being able to turn and breathe on his own when swimming free-style (which he does great at too)!

"What Did We Miss Wednesday"

Well, today at Everett's school is miss match and crazy hair day.  He chose to wear and shirt, tie, 2 different socks, and 2 different shoes but of course would NOT mess up his hair (he HATES it sticking up)!  Yesterday was crazy sock day and Monday was hat day.  They are having celebrations this week because tomorrow is the schools biggest fundraiser, their Walk-A-Thon!  Each class has to walk a certain amount of steps.  Tomorrow is spirit day and he will be wearing his Walk-A-Thon t-shirt and Friday is twin day, dress like your friend.

Ashton, of course, saw the camera out and wanted his picture taken too!  He wore his Spiderman hat to school today (he can't wear it at school) but wanted to keep it in his cubby so he could wear it back home.

Everett passed his IREAD test, YIPPEE!!!!!  Now he is able to go on to the 4th grade.  IREAD is a mandatory test that all 3rd graders have to take and pass in order to go on to the next grade.  He has one more round of ISTEP coming up the last week/first week in April/May......fingers crossed!

Stay tuned for more to come later tonight.......it is swim lessons!

Thanks To The Rain.......

We got to spend some much needed family time together!  Boot camp was cancelled because it is a monsoon outside with thunder and lightening, so......we went to Gramboli's Pizza and had a nice time.  It was Spirit Night for Ev's school and 15% of the bill goes back to his school!  Ev saw a friend from class and got to go to the game room with him and saw one of his teachers too.  Ashton of course ate 2 bites and was "full" but as soon as we walked into the door at the house, guess who was hungry????

Crazy.......Maybe

So today is Tueday and that is the ONLY day this week that the boys do not have some scheduled activity in the evening!  Hooray, right?  I plan on doing what every other person would do on their one night off for the week.........YEP, I am going to Boot Camp, eek!

I have a group of girls I am going with and thanks to Kara Dowd www.certifiedptfitness.com we are going to kick some butt!  As Ashton (Chick) says I have a giant booty so it is time to do something about it!

If I do not post anything tomorrow, please feel free to call Lee and make sure I am alive and not in the hospital!

Never Judge A Book By Its Cover

Hello everyone!

I decided to start a blog so that everyone can keep up with the boys and how they are doing, what they are doing, and what they probably shouldn't be doing.  I thought maybe this would be easier on everyone and you could stop by and take a look on your time (and lets face it, I went over on my plan for sending pictures to everyone on my phone).

I am excited to share with everyone our daily lives so you feel like you are here with us!  I am not sure how this may end up going, but lets take a chance and have some fun with.  On your marks, get set, GO.........here is our family, our life, our STORY, ENJOY!

(Check back every Wednesday for "What Did We Miss Wednesday's")
